CitizenCard FAQ's
No ID, No Sale!
- 23-5-2012
- Categorized in: For Retailers
CitizenCard’s millionth cardholder helped launch ‘No ID, No Sale!’ in 2005 alongside long-standing Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard. The campaign helps shop staff to prevent underage sales and reminds younger customers to show valid ID.

Today the phrase ‘No ID, No Sale!’ is widely understood and visible on shop doors, aisle shelves and above tobacco gantries in supermarkets, convenience stores, newsagents, betting shops and elsewhere.
MPs are prominent in supporting the campaign in their constituencies.
The 'No ID, No Sale!' Retail pack

A5 Window Vinyl – Display in a prominent position at the entrance to your shop showing potential customers that the minimum age is 18 for alcohol, tobacco, solvents and knives.

A4 Valid ID Poster – lets your customers and staff know what forms of ID are valid and, following advice from Trading Standards, anyone unable to produce valid ID will have their details entered in a Refusals Register (see below).

A4 Refusals Register – a properly maintained register has been known to safeguard a threatened liquor licence by demonstrating ‘due diligence’. Trading Standards advise all retailers of age-restricted goods to train staff in the use of a Register, which should be kept safe and out of sight of customers.

A3 Statutory Tobacco Notice – the maximum fine for not displaying this is £1,000. Enough said.

100 DL CitizenCard Flyers – shop staff can hand out flyers to customers unable to produce valid ID. In training sessions, the flyers can be used to illustrate how confrontations with customers unable to show valid ID can be easily defused.

DL Flyer Dispenser – this standalone unit, positioned on the counter in full view of your customers, allows them to pick up a CitizenCard flyer for themselves.

Envelope – the pack is supplied in the branded envelope.

If you are an independent shopkeeper, or if you employ or train shop staff, we can supply you with free packs. If you are a multiple operator you may want to produce co-branded packs and issue co-branded CitizenCard flyers (which offer revenue opportunities for your business).
