You can choose between two different types of CitizenCard

Classic CitizenCard
or

Visa Prepaid CitizenCard

Both offer PASS Proof of Age which is recognised as valid ID by the Home Office, police, trading standards, retailers, UK airlines and many other organisations. They are both the same price (£15 for a Standard application or £30 for an Urgent application). And both offer
LEALTA discounts.

Classic CitizenCard

The Classic CitizenCard is a proof of age and identity card.  Bearing the PASS hologram the card is well-established as the UK’s most widely-recognised ID card.  Accepted by virtually every retail outlet as valid ID, the card displays a date of birth but also an ageband (see images above).  So it’s easy to prove you are young enough or old enough to access age-restricted goods and services.

If you apply for a Classic CitizenCard you will receive a card with the ageband that applies at the time we send your card.  So if you want the ‘next’ ageband (for example if you are 17 but want an 18+ card) you must advise us by attaching a cover note to your application form explaining which age band you would like.  We will then send out the requested card to arrive on the relevant date.  If you fail to do this you will be issued with the 'age band' that applied at the time we send your card. See also Expiry & Renewal.

The Classic CitizenCard contains no technology or hidden information. A unique holographic overlay seals the card and UV marks can be checked on both sides of the card.  More information on the Classic card here.

Visa Prepaid CitizenCard

The Visa Prepaid CitizenCard does everything the Classic card does plus it’s a Visa Prepaid card.  It's NOT a credit card - you must load money onto the card which you can then spend at one of 29 million Visa outlets worldwide and online.

You can load from as little as £10 up to £5,000 at any one time, by bank transfer, standing order or online banking. You can take cash to any Post Office or PayPoint retailer and load the card that way too (fees of 2% at the Post Office and 3% at PayPoint retailers apply). You can also transfer funds from one Visa Prepaid CitizenCard to another one (£0.15 fee).

Best of all you can earn with the card by promoting it to friends & family and by taking part in ccVoice opinion surveys. There are no monthly or annual card fees (unlike many prepaid cards) and provided you load or spend with the card at least once in any 90-day period the card can be 100% fee-free.

The Visa Prepaid CitizenCard costs the same as the Classic CitizenCard.  The choice is yours.
